The 19th century "commercial" lock mentioned
elsewhere, but this model has been set up for the popular
drum and nipple system of ignition. These locks were used on
fine guns as well as "hardware" pieces and were usually
marked WARRANTED near the bottom center of the plate. Over
the word was many times stamped the gunmaker's name or even
the gun's retailer. Some were engraved or stamped with a
hunting scene. We have left this area to your discretion.
